Accuracy spotlight
We evaluate transcripts using word error rate (WER) and punctuation error rate (PER). FlowType stays below 4% WER in English and 5.8% in French with a consumer USB microphone. Accuracy improves further on premium microphones or quiet rooms.
Practical tips for best results
- Use a wired microphone when possible to avoid Bluetooth compression artifacts.
- Assign a keyboard shortcut to pause dictation when you need to review the text.
- Toggle the "Auto punctuation" setting if you're dictating command snippets or code.
