🎙️ How to Use FlowType Voice Dictation

Quick Start Guide

1 Open FlowType
Click on the FlowType extension icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup.
2 Allow Microphone Access
When you first click the microphone button, your browser will ask for permission to access your microphone. Click "Allow" to enable voice dictation.
3 Click in a Text Field
Click on any text input field, textarea, or content-editable area on a website where you want to type.
4 Start Recording
Click the blue microphone button in the FlowType popup. It will turn red and start listening.
5 Speak Clearly
Speak naturally and clearly. Your words will be transcribed in real-time and inserted into the active text field.
6 Stop Recording
Click the red microphone button again to stop recording. You can start and stop as many times as needed.

🔇 Microphone Not Working?

  1. Check that your microphone is properly connected
  2. Make sure you've allowed microphone access in your browser
  3. Check your system's microphone settings and permissions
  4. Try reloading the extension or restarting your browser

📝 Text Not Appearing?

  1. Make sure you've clicked inside a text field before speaking
  2. Check that the recording indicator shows "Recording..."
  3. Try speaking more clearly or closer to your microphone
  4. Verify that the correct language is selected

⚠️ Permission Denied Error?

  1. Go to your browser settings
  2. Find Privacy & Security → Site Settings → Microphone
  3. Find the FlowType extension and allow microphone access
  4. Reload the extension and try again
ℹ️ Browser Compatibility
FlowType works best on Chrome and Edge browsers. Speech recognition requires a Chromium-based browser to function properly.

Privacy & Security

FlowType uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API for voice recognition. Your voice data is processed by your browser and Google's speech recognition service. We do not store or transmit any audio recordings.
